Malcolm X: Malcolm X centered his messages around concepts of racial pride and Black nationalism in the early 1960's He was a forward thinking activist and many people feel as though his mission was wrongfully portrayed by the media and the government. Malcolm X. predicted he would be ore important in death then in life. His original name was Malcolm Little and his Muslim name was el-hajj Malik el-Shabazz. He was born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska, and died in February 21, 1965 by assassination in New York. In June 1964, he founded the Organization of Afro-American Unity, which identified racism as the enemy of justice. His more moderate philosophy became influential, especially among members of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC).

Angela Davis: Angela Davis is an American political activist, academic, scholar and author. Angela Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 26. 1944. Her neighborhood in Birmingham was known as "Dynamite Hill," for the number of homes that were targeted by the Ku Klux Klan. Angela Davis, eventually moved from Birmingham to pursue her education at Brandeis University where she studied philosophy. In the last 1960's she joined the Black Panthers. She would end up spending most of her time working with the Che-Lumumba Club which was the black branch of the Communist Party. Angela Davis became a strong supporter of the Soledad Brothers, three men who were not related, accused of killing a prison guard after several African Americans had been killed in a fight by another prison guard. During one of the prison inmates trial, his brother, entered the courtroom and took hostages in exchange for him. This ensued a shoot-out in which the judge and two inmates were killed. Angela Davis was brought up on charges by the FBI for her alleged part in the event. She spent 18 months in prison until she was  acquitted in June 1972.

Ida B. Wells: Ida B.Wells stood up against injustice throughout her life. She was the owner and editor of the Memphis Free Speech and Headlight and later the Free Speech. Through her investigative journalism she launched an anti lynching campaign to expose the reality behind lynching's and published a pamphlet the Red Record, the first statistical record of the history of American lynchings. Ida is also one of the founders of the NAACP, and one of the most important African American Women’s Suffrage Movement.
