Cape Verdean Collection
The Cape Verde Islands or Cabo Verde is an island country consisting of 10 volcanic islands off the west coast of Africa. Today the islands are comprised of a very diverse range of skin tones, hair colors and textures, as well as eye color.
This is because Cape Verde was uninhabited until the 15th century, when the Portuguese discovered it and used it as a port for slave trade as well as an important and useful stopover point along major shipping routes.
In 1951, Cape Verde was incorporated as an overseas department of Portugal, but its inhabitants continued to campaign for independence, which they achieved in 1975.
